Day 1
Rishikesh To Chopta (Drive 220km)
On Day 1 of the Chopta Chandrashilla trek with Deoriatal, you will travel from Rishikesh to Chopta. Rishikesh is a city located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and is the starting point of the trek. Chopta is a small village located at an altitude of 2,680 meters above sea level and is the base camp for the trek.
To reach Chopta from Rishikesh, you will have to cover a distance of around 220 km. You can hire a taxi or take a bus from Rishikesh to Ukhimath, which is the nearest town to Chopta. From Ukhimath, you can take another taxi or shared jeep to reach Chopta.
The journey from Rishikesh to Chopta takes around 7-8 hours, depending on the traffic and road conditions. The route passes through the towns of Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Ukhimath, offering beautiful views of the mountains and valleys. The road is narrow and winding, so it is advisable to hire an experienced driver who is familiar with the route.
On reaching Chopta, check into a hotel, camp or guesthouse and spend the rest of the day acclimatizing to the altitude. Chopta is a scenic village surrounded by dense forests of rhododendron and oak trees. You can take a walk around the village and explore the local market. The temperature in Chopta can drop below freezing point at night during winter, so make sure to carry warm clothes and blankets.
Day 1 of the trek is all about getting to Chopta and preparing yourself for the trek ahead. It is important to take sufficient rest and drink plenty of fluids to avoid altitude sickness. Get a good night’s sleep to prepare yourself for the trek to Tungnath and Chandrashilla the next day.
Day 2
Chopta to Tungnath and Chandrashilla and back to Chopta (Trek 10 km).
On Day 2 of the Chopta Chandrashilla trek uttarakhand, you will start the trek from Chopta to Tungnath and Chandrashilla, which is a total distance of 9 km (round trip).
After an early breakfast, start the trek towards Tungnath. The journey to Tungnath is approximately 4 kilometres long and usually takes 3 to 4 hours to finish. The trail passes through a dense forest of rhododendron trees and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Tungnath is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is located at a very high place. It is the highest Lord Shiva temple in the whole world, at a height of 3,680 meters above sea level. People believe that the temple is very old, more than 1000 years. Many Hindus visit the temple as it is considered to be an important place for pilgrimage.
After exploring the temple, continue the trek for another 1.5 km to reach Chandrashilla. The trek to Chopta Chandrashilla trek Uttarakhand is steep and challenging, but the panoramic views of the Himalayas from the summit make it all worth it. Chandrashilla is situated at an altitude of 4,000 meters above sea level and offers a 360-degree view of the snow-capped peaks of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba, and Kedarnath.
Spend some time at the summit, taking in the stunning views and clicking pictures. After a brief rest, start the trek back to Chopta. The descent is easier and takes around 2-3 hours to complete. On reaching Chopta, check into your hotel or guesthouse and relax for the rest of the day. You can also explore the village and try the local cuisine.
Day 2 of the trek is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. Trek to Tungnath and Chandrashilla is an amazing adventure that provides beautiful views of the Himalayan Mountains. It is a unique experience that you will remember for your whole life. It is important to carry enough water and snacks for the trek, as there are very few shops or eateries on the trail. Wear comfortable and sturdy shoes, as the trail can be rocky and uneven in places. Rest well and prepare yourself for the trek to Deoriatal on Day 3.
Day 3
Chopta To Sari and Deoriatal and Back To Rishikesh (Trek 5 km and Drive 211km)
On Day 3 of the Chopta Chandrashilla trek with Deoriatal, you will start from Chopta to Sari (Drive) and from Sari to Deoriatal (Trek), which is a total distance of 5 km (round trip). After completing the trek, you will travel back to Rishikesh, which is a drive of around 205 km.
After breakfast, start the drive from Chopta to Sari, which is around 15 km away. From Sari, start the trek to Deoriatal, which is around 2.5 km and takes around 1-2 hours to complete. The trail passes through dense forests of oak, rhododendron, and deodar trees and offers stunning views of the Himalayas. Deoriatal is a serene lake situated at an altitude of 2,438 meters above sea level and is surrounded by snow-capped peaks.
Spend some time at the lake, taking in the peaceful surroundings and clicking pictures. After a brief rest, start the trek back to Sari. From Sari, drive back to Rishikesh, which takes around 7-8 hours.
Day 3 of the trek is a relatively easy day, with a short trek to Deoriatal and a long drive back to Rishikesh. Deoriatal is a beautiful lake and offers stunning views of the Himalayas. The trek is easy and can be done by people of all ages and fitness levels. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks for the trek, as there are no shops or eateries on the trail. Wear comfortable shoes and warm clothes, as the temperature can drop in the evening.
On reaching Rishikesh, check into your hotel and rest for the night. Day 3 marks the end of the Chopta Chandrashilla trek Uttarakhandwith Deoriatal, and you can take back memories of a lifetime of the stunning Himalayas.
